Typeface selection articles

Crowded captions, awkward pairings, or mixed-script text: work through common sticking points with examples you can try.

Individual font selection notes

UI weights, code character distinction, and notice hierarchy: read official context alongside concrete comparison exercises.

Pretendard

For Pretendard interfaces, check the loaded weights and language family, then compare a short action, a price, and a long message together.

D2Coding

Compare D2Coding with real code containing figures, punctuation, and Korean comments. Its usefulness for code should be assessed separately from ordinary prose.

고운돋움 · Gowun Dodum

Consider Gowun Dodum when exploring a Korean sans serif with a handwritten touch. Assess the greeting’s tone separately from the accuracy of hours and prices.

Free font FAQ

Can I use the fonts on MongleFonts commercially for free?

MongleFonts only lists fonts that we have initially verified as free for commercial use. However, publisher terms and applicable laws may change, so always confirm the latest license on the font detail page and the official distribution site before use.

Where can I download a font?

Use the download button on its detail page to get the registered file or visit the official distribution website.

Can I preview Korean, Japanese, and English text?

Change the preview sentence and text size to compare supported scripts and the actual typeface.

Can I find fonts by purpose or mood?

Combine language and mood filters or use search to find the right font. For example, if you like fonts from a particular creator, search the creator’s name to browse them together.

I downloaded a font, but it is missing from my app.

Extract a ZIP first, then install the TTF or OTF file. On Windows, use the font file’s installation option; on Mac, double-click it and install through Font Book. If the OS lists it but your app does not, save your document and reopen the app. Custom font support varies between apps.

Why do only some characters look different?

The selected font may lack those characters and another face may be filling the gaps. Test actual names, places, numerals, and symbols rather than relying on a language label alone. Check the coverage information on the detail page and at the official source.

Is sharing a finished image the same as sharing a font file?

Using lettering in an image or video and distributing the font file itself involve different conditions. Bundling files in an app or editable template also needs review. Define your intended use and check the font’s official modification, redistribution, and embedding terms instead of relying only on a free label.
